Runway Beauty-Graphic Liner

Step 1. Clean Canvas
Always do dramatic eye makeup first, because if you make a mistake it’s easier to clean up. Prep eyelids with a primer and a neutral shadow or foundation.

Step 2.Pick a Liner
There are endless options for liner depending what kind of look you want. Lancôme makes a goof-proof sharpie-pen version, MAC fluidline is a standout for thick or thin lines, and a drug store find is Wet n’ Wild.

Step 3. Sketch
Take your liner of choice, and gently line the top lid from tear duct to the end of the lid as close to the eyelash line as possible. It’s a lot easier to be accurate if you lower your lids and look down slightly while you do this. Remember just to line the top lid, which keeps the look modern and removes any chance of a panda bear look.

Step 4. Tweak It
Keep repeating until the line is as thick as you would like. For the dramatic runway look just use a thicker brush to cover the entire lid up to the crease, and drag it out slightly beyond the lid for an extended half-moon shape. For a more delicate look, simply follow the lash line and build it up slightly. For retro glamour you can wing it out into a classic cat eye. Or for a more avant-garde look try a jewel tone liner like blue or turquoise.

Step 5. Finish Your Make-up
Once your liner is set, keep the line crisp and clean up any goofs with a cotton swab and make-up remover, then dust a bit of face powder to set the liner. Finish the rest of your makeup in neutral tones with minimal blush and just a bit of lip balm, keeping the look fresh and clean.
